Should I sell the Scooby???

Postby jaycee » Wed Nov 10, 2004 12:40 pm

Here's the situation.
It's my 3rd Impreza and before I bought it I wanted a Porsche. The wife reckoned on a porker not being very family friendly so didn't like the idea.
Well, I never take them out in it!! She has her car, I have a little runabout for work and such and then the Impreza for fun.
The passenger seat is virtually untouched and the kids have been in the back twice.
Should I

A) Stop being a ponce and let the kids with their sticky fingers in the car and the wife moaning about it making her feel sick.

B) Trade it in for a porker, Lotus Elise, Vauxhall VX220 turbo etc etc

Opinions please..........!!

mm Well you should be the backseat on the WR1, little Clare has turned it into her playroom.

Depends on what you want.

If its just a car for you - your own toy - maybe a 2 seater.

I would stop poncing araound mate and let the kids move into the Scoob.

A full valet once every 2 months does sort it out mate ;) trust me it does ;)

You'll lose too much money if you get rid of it now. Keep it for another couple of years and enjoy it! :D

Mary might go off you if you went for anything else!

I forgot to add
It's got to be as quick as the Impreza, as much fun and corner like it's on rails.
These are the only requirements.Oh and be affordable!!

There's no point in the Evo as it's still a "family saloon" and I prefer the look of the Scooby.
TVR? You're having a larf!! I want it to start!

Speedy recovery mate.
How did it happen?

Ambushed by a sniper?
Rolled a car on track at high speed?
Bitten by a shark?
Run over by a speedboat while water skiing?
Snowboarding?
Savaged by a pack of wolves?

Or something more interesting??!

I'll just add that a well driven Elise is a thing to behold...my brother sold his Caterham to get an Elise and he's a test driver (for Nissan) and used to race bikes so knows how to drive

and in this months Car magazine the WR1 gets whooped on the track by a 111R

fair comment,

But the does the car mag have drivers that know about the dccd that makes a big difference, what set up does the driver have, and what track if its a tight twisty track then yeah a lotus would win but get out on a fast open track like goodwood or something similar then a subaru would win,

The lotus is a track car made for the road, the subaru is rally car made for the road its hard to compare them

just my view :)

Its more interesting, Nothing is the answer is was corrective surgury 2 years ago that has never worked and there has been lots of confusion into whats going on but i have had it done twice in the last month and 3 times before that,

I have been in and out of plaster on and off crutches since sept 02 now, all to do with rebuilding the outside edge of my foot but the bone they put in (taken from my hip) keeps breaking or moving, so this time it was in with the staple gun and it hurts, been in plaster 1month already cant work or drive and sick pay is

After much searching on the old t'internet, I've decided I can't replace the Scooby with anything as fast for sensible money, excluding an Evo but lets face it, they're so similar really.

WR Blue with gold wheels stays a little longer!!

Brian do you think it's worth me fitting the WR1 downpipe (which I can get off ChrisB) or go for de-cat?

mm begger me, if i had a STi8 i would No Doubt go for the TSL 333

Its 333 on the rollers at Prosport which = 313 BHP on Any other rollers ;) = to WR1 performance.

THe TSL 33 has a groupe N Exhaust and feck me it sounds great.

If i had the choice of car to drive i would drive the TSL 333 it really is on par if not better than a WR1...

I cant believe you may be re thinking, Ring up TSl and take the bloddy thing out for a spin. as a sti8 owner i know you will be over the moon !!

if i had the choice i would respray the 333 Baby BLue and it would be a WR1 !!!

I would. I would be interesting to know how much power the 2 litre block can take and still be ok to use everyday?

It'll take a genuine 350 before you have to go internal.
The JDM 2.0 litre is probably good for 390/400.

Having said that, there are 400+ STI's out there.

Not too sure if the 520bhp STI is running 2.5 or not.
Somebody will know.

Lets hope so. A 2.5 500 bhp WR1 could be a bit of fun

If your going to mod you might as well go the whole hog!

Whats porsche was you thinking of getting?
Im a big porsche fan and i'll love to have one.

I think you should keep the scooby for a few years until I can afford to buy that one off you.

I bought the scooby cuz its the only 4 door with a kick i could/can afford
