Lucky Escape
Been to A Jap car meet at Thoresby Hall today with the Midland Scoobies club.
Travelling back with Tayster from the club ( Tayster has Typr R ) we were on the A5, circa 3/4 miles form my house. I look in my mirror and I can see White Van man sitting on Taysters tail  , unable to over take we have to drive until there is a small stretch of dual carrigway. As usual on this stretch, drop down a gear, foot down and away we go  , looked at the speedo doing circa 125, with Tayster in tow. When the carrigway goes back to single, slow down as you hit the islands around the toll road.Look in the mirror only to see a traffic cop, lights going, pulling out to overtake Tayster  we both pull in at once. My phone goes so I answer before the cop gets to me, he looks and states ' I will be back to speak with you in a moment  as all the cars we had over taken pass us by. Watching in the mirror I can see the cop talking to Tayster but no signs of note book etc, comes and talks to me, states ' I know you were travelling well within the limits of your car, but due consideration must be given to the fact it was a Sunday and there were a few cars on the road that would not realise the speed I was travelling at, ( I wanted to say that there were no cars now as they were all in the distance !). Drive more carefully and knock some of the speed off' . He then went on and said that he did not want to book me or my friend. Tayster confirmed he had said the same to him.I know we were very lucky, but this copper is what policing should be about, having a word, understanding the vehicles and more importantly acknowledge that we were not driving dangerously.
That was a close call.
Good to hear about some sensible policing for a change.

Congratulations.... we all needed to know that. Are you sure you don't spend your weekend  ??
 Fortunately I was home this weekend  Plus, if I did spend my time , I'd have spent time on my PC and you'd find some posts of me on this forum... Check how often I post during the weekend...  
If you want my personal opinion on how often you post then here it is:- TOO OFTEN!  Joke!
To judge from the number of posts with your name against... maybe you should take a leaf out of my book and... take a young and sexy wife !  PS: we absolutely need an "off topic" smilie.
I'm rare in that I offer QUALITY along with QUANTITY!
Now, back to the point!
try doing that in Essex ... cops like to make an example of people here. As I found out at the weekend!
No I've learnt my lesson on that front. This is more serious
I'll be lucky to get away with just points put it that way!
i know i was doing a big 3 digit speed going to wrc a couple of weeks ago, only for a small way, but if i had been caught, well it's not worth thinking about, feeling for you mate.
Stay away from here in summer I'd say. They don't have KGB in Russia anymore, so they all must have joined the policeforce here I think.
In winter you can drive like Makinen and get away with it (too cold to get out probably), but in summer, 2mph over the 50mph limit are you're done, especially if you're the only scoobydriver in town...
