Will 2006 2.5 STi affect WR1 values ?

Postby The Swede » Fri Jul 01, 2005 8:56 am

I've heard many people in favour of a 2.5 STi. Seems it's now coming with the 2006 model.

Since I assume quite a few WR1 buyers got the WR1 because they wanted to have the greatest scoob available, who will want to swap their WR1 for the new 2.5 STi ?

It's the same as anything else there's always something bigger & better comes out after you buy something. Question is will it look/ be as special as THE 1???

id doesnt matter because im keeping mine 8) ,
by the time im finished it will probably have a 2.5 in it anyway 8) ,its nice to have something thats not "run of the mill"the WR1 will always be a limited edition and as time goes on people will realise it and stop slagging it off,
im sure prices will fall but not as quick as others

True. Although I think the WR1 so far is still the most special current Impreza on the road. The 2005 STi didn't really change that much compared to 2004.
Hence why the second hand values for the WR1 seems to remain very high at dealers at the moment while an STi of similar "vintage" generally is worth about half the price.

Still, I guess quite a few buyers who're attracted by a WR1 type of special edition want it because they always want the flashest and fastest of something. The 2.5 will probably better the WR1 on power and the 2006 definitely looks very different (I didn't say better !)...

I dont think the 06 model will affect the value of
the WR1
like all ltd ed impreza they seem to hold their value
more than standard models

went to part ex my lookalike euro spec a few months ago on a
WR1 .... salesman wanted 12K to do a deal
you can do a lot for 12K

Remember the 2006 will in its self be replaced by an all new Impreza 2008 available to order 2007. I think the 2006 car will attract buyers however all limited editions have always held up well, I expect to a drop in prices but I feel the 1 will be reasonably ok.

At Thoresbury a nember of non subaru owners came up and had a talk, all said that the WR1 would be the one they would go for, supply and demand rules will apply in the future as they do now.

You actually got a Petter Solberg from the continent ? They were really hard to come by. Countries like Belgium etc, where scoobies are generally cheapest, never got them.

Why did you get a Petter Solberg rather than a PPP STi or a WR1 in the first place ? Was it so much cheaper ?
And is it RHD ?

as regards to STi PPP 27k and the dealer an a***hole

my euro spec cost 22k i got the good deal dont you think
and it came from Malta so i also got 3 years warranty

Ok here is my input

1: Mike Wood didnt bring his WR1 to the last Pro Drive day :(
2: THis means Pro Drive have a new Project
3: Maybe the 2.5 ?
4: THe 2.5 is far more torquier than the 2.0
5: I have tried a Forester with the 2.5 and its :)
6: Also a LEgacy with the 2.5 and it was BAD :(
7: So will the 2.5 affect WR1 Prices ?

Nahh no way the WR1 is a WR1 its that simple, if you owned a 2.0 STi then YES but the WR1 is a Limited Ed ELITE car.

and Yes ill be testing the NEw 2.5 Scoob when the Official one arrives, and if Pro Drive has some tweeks, ill be first in Que ;)

The new model is going with the flow of all car designs. Its a shame :(

As for a front mounted intercooler, im sure Pro Drive will do something with the 2.5 engine.
Its about time they got it off the Top and put it where it should be put !
And with the amount of power and heat the larger engine will provide im sure we will see it at the front in a Pro Drive Edition soon.

I havent had any chats with Pro Drive, its just a Gut feeling that the time has come for them to do it properly and charge for it, not being screwed down to a tight budget.

The STi is a common sight now, so a massive leap forward is required.

ITs going to be a Battle in the next few years as i have my sights on a new RS4 Audi.
If ProDrive can sort out this 06 model, do it properly and make the customer pay for it, ill be there :) Back in the Fold :)

Theyll take one and see how far it will go before the engine goes, then work up from that.
