Power TestingI noticed a previous thread on power testing of wr1s i wonder if anyone could let me have contact details, costs, location etc or any general comments on this subject although i do not have a noticeable power problem it may be worth it for peace of mind.
Cheers
There are a few good rolling roads around the country. If you let us know where abouts you are then we can point you in the right direction.
Hi guys,
My WR1 is going to Power Engineering saturday, will be on the rolling road in the morning. I will post how i got on on saturday afternoon idf101, will let you know what they are like after saturday Cheers Paul
Are you starting!!!
Yup! My car does 0-190 in 2.5 secs and it'll have everything in the twisties (c)
Seriously, I find using a familiar stretch of road with visible markings on a good way of testing the car. Even on a night with the cold air it's making a big difference to in-gear times. Rolling Roads are good for seeing how a particular mod is working and good for bragging rights but they're no substitute for an empty stretch of tarmac, software and a laptop!
so many WR1s on Rolling roads
mines on Clives Rolling Road next Wednesday Next week is going to be rather a good week i can see... THE WR1 RR DVD http://www.scoobycity.co.uk/wr1/phpBB2/ ... highlight=
Hi guys,
I have just got back from Power Engineering, results were not very good 290bhp/270flb. The graph does not look good, got a big dip at around 5.5k rpm, also had a check engine light on, the guys plugged it into subaru select monitor and found the car to be running lean They advised me to get it straight back to dealers. The car is going in to dealers on tuesday for a full check. Cheers Paul
F*ck!
That's 2 on here producing less than claimed now. Considering only 500 were made it'll be interesting to see how many of the 500 reach actual Prodrive figures.
This sounds about the Same BHP Champagne Boy was reading.
THis was caused by a fuel delivery problem when the tank was very low on petrol. The ECU made some changes automaticly, so power slowly came back. But the rolling road test was only a day or so after the fueling problem Did they reset the ECU and try again mate ? THE WR1 RR DVD http://www.scoobycity.co.uk/wr1/phpBB2/ ... highlight=
Nope, not yet but i'll be at RRII, just to be on the safe side.
I have been up against another WR1 on a 'private' road and mine was a lot faster and pulled harder, so hopefully that's a good sign!
That shouldn't happen, not really anyway.
If you were pulling easily eitheer you've got a good 'un or the other one was suffering the same problems as these 2.
It makes you wonder though when 2 are doing the same thing, if there is going to be a common problem somewhere along the line.
Its not really good enough these figures being so far apart, I would imagine everyone who has spent so much on these cars is now wanting to know EXACTLY how much their car is producing.
Im still confused though, Why are they so much quicker and smoother than an STI with PPP (having had one to compare) when they are hardly showing any more bhp OR are the figures quoted for them b**llocks too. There was a thread along these lines SEPT 20 Dave
I guess the standard cars aren't making the figures either.
The map on the WR1 produces a smoother power delivery the the STi's map which makes it a lot more driveable.
Maybe I should have added,
Has anyone got r/r figures for an sti ppp to see how much they vary from one to the other, Dave
Essex Scoobies had a RR day a couple of weeks ago. There were a lot of cars there so i'd guess that there should have been a few PPP'd STi's there.
Thing is you lot, is that it`s 2 so far out of 500 that we even know about and overall that`s a bloody big percent!
I changed over from German machines coz I thought all you Scooby nuts must know something the rest of us didn`t! But alas along with the soddin` screeching tyres, the bagpipes at over 100mph and the bloody understeer, along with the now under performance bhp figures, I`m begining to wish I`d never swapped. I wonder how we stand legally with all these power figures coming up short? If each one of you guyes that`s had it on a RR where the bhp figures are coming up well down on what we were promised and sent them as a group, not as individuals to Prodive, would we have a recall? I can`t put my finger on it, but because of the sort of car it is I`m feeling like I`m being treated like an idiot. For instance. I phoned the Birmingham place about the tyre screeching and bagpipes and was told that they had no idea what I was talking about and that no one else had complained. Now we know from previous posts this is total b***cks! So can you see my point like...........go away little stupid Scooby boy racer, which seems to be attached to these cars and not that we`ve paid
I think the dealers are sorting out the under powered cars or sending them off to Prodrive to be looked at.
If mine is underpowered then it WILL be sorted out. I can think of another well known car maker who sells a car with the BHP in the car title in the full knowledge that the car is under that figure by about 20 bhp. ( A fair bit on a car with less than 200 bhp.)
Kami,
Tyres screeching? When does it occur? Perhaps you tyre pressures need checking. Bagpipes at high speed- it's due to the pillarless doors, Subaru do sell wind deflectors. Before anyone says "but my bmw didn't do it" its a Subaru not a bmw. Regardless of what we've paid for our cars, like it or not, they're not a prestige marque. Not so long ago Subaru's target customer was the farming community. The power figures Subaru/Prodrive quote are MAXIMUM, obtained in ideal (factory controlled) environments. Prodrive will be able to tweak the under-performing vehicles by advancing the timing or increasing the boost. The STI, the WR1 and even the WRX to some extent are high performance cars at low performance cost. So let's all keep smiling, keep beating the opposition and keep the faith. Sermon over. Reverend JC.
Where does it say MAXIMIUM vicar, not in my brochure it doesent,
290 something is a long way from 320, we would have something to say if we were 10% short in our wages or paid for 10 galls of Optimax and only got 9. Until mine has been on a r/r I will be wondering now, as will others I guess, Dave
I have spoken to one person today regarding Low BHP figures and problems with the DCC.
The Dealer has Organised Subary UK to look at teh car next week. If anyowner has a problem, please contact the local dealer, and persue it also with Subaru UK Musnt forget these are High Performance cars.. at low costs.. - As Jacee says, If BMW made the same version it would cost about 40K THE WR1 RR DVD http://www.scoobycity.co.uk/wr1/phpBB2/ ... highlight=
