WR1 - I now know what this car is meant for!!!

Postby Gangsta Smurf » Tue Nov 09, 2004 8:00 pm

Well after waiting so long I finally got my car to a track day in one piece!

Went to Brands on Monday and had the most amazing day. To describe how the WR1 handles on track would take one word. SPECTACULAR.

Porsche GT3 - 450 bhp ....moved over
Mitsi MR340 ....moved over
Caterham R500 ....moved over!

These cars are meant for the track. Nothing could touch my car all day and it just handled a dream. Bo!!ocks to the idiots who say it understeers because it simply doesn't. It was so perfectly balanced that I am now going to definately buy the Ohlins suspension. Power wise it was bang on the button.

So so so so so happy with how it performed!! Awesome awesome car!!!

have you changed the tyres yet Rob ? even Mike Wood has said the tyres were not selected for track use !!

and in this months Car magazine they again give it a 'poor'* track performance rating...although they still say its a fantastic car for roads and everyday use

* poor being relative. It still beat some impressive cars but was 1.5 secs behind the MR340

That's good to hear. Are you running on the standard suspension and P ZERO's?

sure they were both fine... brakes did get extremely hot but as far as i know never faded once... tyres showed there fair signs of use but were still ok...

That's good news. I've not noticed either of them becoming worn out on my car yet, and it doesn't get the kind of use Gangsta's does so hopefully they'll last a long time. :)

Have you heard the latest one;

It must have had under a quarter of a tank of petrol in it and suffered from a fuel surge... (c) Boobynet

:D Nice 1 Gangsta

Had mine on track at Knockhill couple months back. Agree with u on the handling it was spot on! NO understeer!!! Had 2 watch at hairpin as back end stepped out so easy, but really controlable 8) Didn't really get brake fade & KH is tight & twisty. Tyres gave good grip, but noisy at hairpin, they did seem 2 go of a bit during last session but that was 15+laps.
Was great 2 see what car can do in safe suroundings. SIDC track days at KH fantastic, they're well organized, safe & friendly, worth a visit!!! Although think i'll wait a while before putting car on track again.
