STILL WITHOUT MY WR1 FOR ANOTHER 10 WEEKS.

Postby Simon » Wed Jan 05, 2005 9:16 pm

ive just been told that my car that i crashed on the 21st of november is still going to be another 10 weeks before i get it back .
I know that i should have been more careful but 17 weeks without a scooby is taking the p**s.
Ive been told that they are waiting for a loom to be made in japan as there are none in stock.
does anyone know if this is true as. the stand in suzuki automatic is driving me around the twist.

I was only thinking today about your mishap and was wondering if it had all been sorted yet.

10 weeks seems to be taking the pi$$. Do you know what the loom is for?

I'd have thought that there must be one spare in the country somewhere. :?

I was told that if the car heated up without the loom it would effect the electrics on the air bags im not sure if this is true but was told by my dealer today that the wr1 looms are different in some way and there is none anywhere in europe. So one has to be made in japan.

That seems a bit odd. I really didn't think that the looms would be any different to the other UK cars.

You could always PM Mike Wood and ask him.

Surely it would be a standard part for the STI/WR1?
Having said that it probably isn't a commonly required bit hence there not being any in stock. So it needing to be ordered from Japan could be right.
Do you remember the early days of imports and all the horror stories of waiting months for bits? That's what scared the insurance companies off.

Once it's been made they'll probably stick it on a boat to get it over here. That'll take about 6 of the 10 weeks.

I'd see if i could fly over and get the thing! :)

I had to wait 12 weeks to get mine back ... the parts were in such high demand that virtually none were in stock. Bear with it mate getting it back after such a long wait and putting the windows down and blasting down the motorway will be like having a three month sex ban lifted by the old ball and chain!

I know how you feel though mate I was without mine for August, September and October and missed loads of track days and airfield meets

Cheers Gangsta smurf its true what you say the car has spent more of its life in the repair centre than it has on the road.
Did your accident put your insurance up much or have you got protected no claims.just wondering if mine will go through the roof :?:

See being 22 I don't have the option to protect my no claims - of which I now have 0 years!! Am awaiting a stupidly high insurance renewal to come through. I'm reliably informed that the accident (because it was caused by oil on the road) will not cause it to go up by too much - maybe another 1000 to 1500.

If you are over 25 and have full no claims before and accident you only lose something like 2-3 years of it with most companies - so you'll still get some discount.
