The tale of the Turbo Diesel

Postby Spad » Mon Jun 01, 2009 4:07 pm

Even tho where I live is very nice and some good people her with awesome cars. Like Adam at Autotechnica...

There are also inbreds...

Today I was in town milling along and a pimped up 306 Turbo Diesel went past and I thought I heard a dump valve... so i stopped and sure enough it had one...

There is also a turbo diesel Shogun round here with one. It's just sounds daft.
If in doubt...

diesel isnt that bad.. dont get me wrong id choose petrol over diesel.. but my diesel will do 160miles locally to £20. 200miles on motorway. £35 road tax for the year. its my 1st car i spent a bit on it but mainly due to not being able to afford a modified petrol. :) sorry but there are powerful diesels! sure 1 day be a diesel that will be fast from the line! R8 for now!

i have a bmw 330d which was very fast with 231bhp, but i just had it remapped and now it has near 300bhp and 390lb of torque. plus it does about 40mpg, cant go wrong with that.

yep, for its bad rep a diesel can be a very handy car in the right circumstances.

I was loosely involved with the VW sponsered Golf TDi rally car and it made some good results to be fair with Neil doing the pedaling.

but it just can't rev...and for all the torque you get, you can't beat the noise of a high revving petrol screaming its knackers off.

plus petrol smells way better than diesel!!

Oh I aint slating diesels...

I had a 306 DTurbo Sport and it was a huge amount of fun and shed loads to the gallon...

But a dump valve on one just sounds daft... They sound hideous enough as it is!

I think the 306D Turbo had the same passive rear steering from the 306 GTi6 and Rallye...my old dear had one and it was great fun.

lets face it, for those who like their mods to be more cosmetic than performance...a BOV is the simplest and probably cheapest thing to do.

or it helps disperse the soot and blow away the smog surrounding the car!

from what i have heard a bov on a diesel costs £400 plus, i am told this is because it has to be electricaly controlled, not like the vaccum on petrol engines. and also does nothing for the performance, not a good mod. :gay:
