we had mopil guards and they were nuts. (black uniforms) i was going to but an ak47 from him and as much ammo as i wanted for 100 usd, i told the catain i was buying one........... i think they are still peeling him off the wall. we had customs all bribed (generally) all the way through in all the african countries we went to. if not pay out then claim it back when we got home.
the first time i was there we had 3 guys going to the airport..... 2 double cab hylux each one with driver and armed guard. and they were full out wrong side of the road up and over pavements, everything. there were steel bars on the front and rear of the pickups incase we hit anything. we skelped one motorbike and sent him flying into a ditch then into a shack.
came to a big junction and we were jammed so the guards got out put the gun to this guy in a car and ordered them back or he said he was going to kill him..... it was fecking mental. he made 6 cars reverse into ditches onto pavements so we could get through. got to the airport straight to the front of the queue put our bags down with an envelope and away. that was the first time. should have known not to go back then.

i was just young and daft!!
it was a laugh at times though.

when we were in port the locals used to come down the river in canoes selling beer.......cold beer after you gave the can a rinse and used a glass from our boat it still tasted dam good.

we had local beer once STAR in a big green bottle..........once being the word 4 days of liquid from all parts of the body stopped that.

I quite anjoyed it there once I got over the first couple of weeks of shitting out of my ears and the smell of 'something' in the air which can only be described as "dead bodies with a hint of shit".

I was there when the elections were on and the UN were staying in our hotel... one divvi from Germany decided to "eat out" (picture chickens being spitroasted over candles)... he caught typhoid and nearly died!! Would never entertain the idea of eating or drinking ANYTHING other than that from the hotel...

i happened to be there when the miss world was on and in equitoral guinea whan mark thatcher tried to do a coup. that was until the UK spooks tipped of the yanks who informed the morrocan "special" police (mercs as he does not trust his own people......well he killed his uncle for the job he is in) who guard the president what was happening and where to find the container of wepons that had been berthed in luba. there might have been a few americans/british in there guarding as well
i was in the merchant navy for 8 years. just always seened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time

glasgow is good i was a bouncer there when i was in college.
never really been in manchester just transiting when i have been there.

i was fairly fit when i was in the merch, one trip in singaprore we trained almost every day and spent time on the bag and weights 10-15 mile run after work. then on the shot. fecking madness.
