What did you do last night?

I had so much fun... Took car for MOT. All went well there.

Just like the old days I spent the next four hours drinking wine, listening to the radio, cleaning the engine bay and washing the car. Why can I love doing this so much?

Tonight it may well be a coat or two of wax and probably less brandy than last night because my head is a little thick this morning!

Barbequed a leg of lamb, beer, cider, and wine, sat out eating and drinking till late with family :D

Mmmmmmm, but do you mean you grilled a leg of lamb? Cheat!!

Lamb is so great on the BBQ, I'm beginning to think it is better suited to the BBQ than beef. I find Lamb collects the smokey flavour a lot better.

Last weekend I marinated half a kilo of tiger prawns and 250g squid in corriander, garlic, chilli, ginger, spring onion, soy, olive oil. I got my BBQ wok (wok with holes) really hot before dropping adding the prawns and squid. For extra flavour some maple wood was added to the BBQ. Prawns and squid were cooked for a max of 4-5 mins with the BBQ lid on. For a last min I added a generous squeeze of fresh lime. The squid was the most tender I've ever tasted and the prawns sucked the smokey flavour up. They were absolutely delicious and far better than any restaurant standard seafood I have ever tasted.

I was training last night and ran a bit too hard for too long.... (those of you who run will understand what I mean about the point of no return) so much so that I lost control of my bowels as the world fell out of my arse.... :oops:

Other than that, had a shower :lol:

Last night I got home, the wife fetched fish n chips with her... I stuffed my face then went to teach one of the neighbours how to use Powerpoint to create timelines for the BBC (whilst consuming their beer)... After that, I came back home and watched a movie in my home cinema that was so so id give it 6/10 "Rescue Dawn" or something... im a member of lovefilm.com so normally get through 2-3 blurays per week to make sure i get value for money.

It's a 4-D 100,000 ANSI Lumen projector.... melts bricks :lol:

Sounds awesome, you can re-create this next time we're at yours.

On Friday I got 3 monkfish fillets and a ton of tiger prawns, and made up kebabs, marinaded them and bbq'd them. best meal I've had in ages! :D

You will have to come over one night and watch a film mate. I didnt see Wendy the other day mate although Apperley Bridge is my normal commute to work. Hopefully I was behaving myself? im on autopilot on a morning so send my apologies if i blatantly ignored her waving at me :)

Its nothing compared to the kit you use Andy, its an infocus IN81 projector.

At the time I got it I did my homework by watching the Gadget Show (:lol:) who said it was the best home cinema projector available at the time. Its not as bright as some projectors ive used but i believe its got a good contrast ratio and is a true HD projector.

I then bought an Onkyo amp which has the PS3/XB360/Wii/Sky HD plugged into it and enables you to have one long heavy duty HDMI cable going straight to the projector to keep things tidy. To lay this cable i had to clear my bedroom / lift the floorboards in the bedroom and lay it that way due to the joists in the roof.

Whilst the floor was lifted I took out the long dangly light in the middle of the room which would get in the way of the projector and put in flat to the ceilling spotlighting on a remote control dimmer switch to add to the effect.

I then bought some middle of the range KEF speakers / sub 5.1 surround sound system to replace my old surround sound system. If anyone wants my old one its still in good nick... make me an offer ;)

To finish the room off i got a low laying wooden cabinet to put all the bits on instead of the TV cabinet (which would look silly without a tele). I ripped out the old fireplace gently so i can resell it if anyone needs a fireplace let me know... I then plastered over the hole and carried on with the whole wall and put an air vent in at the bottom.

I then bought a mural of new york and stuck this on the back wall which was a nightmare to put up but looks ok from a distance in the dark.. lol The wife then made me get a new carpet up there and a stupidly expensive sofa up there which is a double ches long... so both can sit and watch tele with feet up. Oh last thing was black out blinds so you can watch films all day long.

The only thing ive found wrong with the room now is a lack of a beer fridge which i can move up from the conservatory if need be... and in this hot weather i could do with moving an air conditioner in there as once a projector gets going rooms get warm pretty quick.

Sounds like a pretty good set up mate...not bad for an amateur! :lol:

The next step is to get yourself a newer projector with the DLP Link chip inside it...so you can watch true 3D movies. Should be available pretty soon and BR movies to go with it. Hopefully the new HDMI 1.4 standard will support this as well.

We should have a new 4K (4x HD) projector soon too....we have the LED ones already shipping.

Will the new HD standard need a new hdmi cable type?

and bro... im still waiting for an invite to one of these bbq's :)... if u want me to leave a small deposit in your small hole then i know a man call bubba who can do the job much better than i can ;)

like all new things..a 1.4 cable will be able to handle backwards compatibility (so transfer 1.3), but your present devices BR player and projector won't handle the new format. Maybe PS3 will as this is just software on the cell chip, but most other devices are all hardware limited.

the spec isn't finalized yet so can't say with 100% certainty, but that was the case when going from 1.2-1.3.

I tell you Gee, the prawn and squid dish is fantastic. I made it again last night... The way the prawns collect the smokey aroma and how tender the squid remains it is without doubt an experience...

For the wife - a simple trout with the same marinade rubbed in.

The great thing about the BBQ is it simplyfies cooking different things for different tastes. I pretty much like all food whereas my wife likes fish or chicken. I can't live without food variety so the BBQ works well.

Tonight it is a SMACS meet so I made some spicy turkey burgers last night ready to be thrown on the BBQ before I go out. Gotta say, the marinading turkey mixture smelt so good that after a few beers last night I couldn't resist cooking one at the end of the night. BBQ was still hot, throw a few bits of charcoal on and away we went.

Really simple and healthy:

Turkey mince
loads of finely chopped corriander
loads of grated garlic
grated ginger
finely chopped chillies (plenty)
finely chopped spring onion
big spoon of English mustard
loads of fresh ground pepper
generous helping of BBQ sauce

If you are going to make patties and then chill the before cooking you don't need to add egg or bread crumbs.

:lol: PMSL Thats 90% of us's idea of bbqing thats why Bro's sounds so mouth watering :D

I love all fish, shell fish & squid etc & Bro's recipe sounds magic :D
