Chris - Origin b2 and your thoughts?

I've been hassling Jaycee and thought it was time to give him a rest.

Chris and his Scooby.... do you have the Solo version or the fixed system?

What are your thoughts on this bit of kit? Why this one and not the Road Angel?

If you have the Solo unit where do you mount it? Does it have a sucker to attach to the windscreen? If so, can you place it in the middle of the dash?

Many more questions if you want them!!

Cheers boys!

I just got one through SN Group Hug/Buy ;)

I had to rig up me ole tablet PC to dial out on a anolouge line to update it :(

Updating is fine so long as you dont have a secure network and server.

I've gone for the fixed system. I thought about the Solo but wanted the unit to be fitted discretely, ideally around the ash tray. Then, once i had the unit i did a poor quality easy to move around install and realised it wasn't going to be easy to read whilst driving. (I nearly hit the kerb a few times... )

So i'm going to have the unit fixed on the dash after all. It's going where the pillar meets the right hand corner of the dash, so nice and easy to read.

I went for this over the Road Angel as more people recommended it and i'm very pleased. We went on the M25 over the weekend and it came into it's own going through the road works. :)

If you buy one make sure it's from Jason, top quality service.

If you have any more questions just ask. :D

Jason, if it wasn't for the fixing issues I would call you with the cash right NOW. I really hate the idea of any fixing that doesn't use suckers onto the windscreen. I need to think about this and stop being an indecisive big girl!

Are they really that much better than a Road Angel?

With the B2 I need the solo device and two cradles so I can use it in two cars.

You don't need 2 cradles with the solo, whip it out and plug it in!!

Sorry if I am being really thick (it is Monday after lots of beer over the weekend). Did you not say you have to attach the cradle to the dash?

No you're not, it's probably me!
If you use the DIN bracket you can just unscrew the cradle from the bracket and re-install in another car.

The sticky pad method also works but eventually the pads lose their stick.

Alternatively, get the secondary cradle it makes the whole job easier.

To be totally honest with you, seeing as we're all friends here, for the way you want to use it, the road angel may be better for you as it is much easier to swap from car to car.
I rate the b2 as a better all round unit but at the end of the day it's horses for courses and I'm here for fun not to push my products on people. I hope that sounds right!!

Yes, I want to swap it from car to car daily... not yearly so I guess the Origin isn't the best option. It really is a shame they don't do a suction pad option as I do value the opinion of you guys.

Just ordered a Road Angel 2 along with a second windscreen bracket. Hopefully this will improve the safety of my driving!!!!!!!

I have received and used my Road Angel 2. Hoped it would increase my BHP slightly!

Anyway, I attached the said item to the windscreen. I even repositioned it a couple of times without destroying my dash with screw holes etc. The worst issues I had was the circle marks it leaves on the windscreen after moving the bracket!!

PostPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2004 9:22 am

mm those circles left on the windscreen :( im suprised they didnt design it so it left feet impressions on the windscreen instead ;)

The Angel saved my licence twice over the weedend :) With the angel talking to me and the Tom Tom telling me where to go, sometimes it got a bit too much.

All the chit chat i was getting from them.

How did it save you licence?

It anounced a Fixed camera alert on the M25, and a Mobile Camera near longleat.

the extra 6 points would have taken me over the edge :(
