started cleaning the 1...not finishedim new to all this and this was my first real attempt...The car has been stood scince august! and hasnt been cleaned scince then! she was looking rather shabby. so as the sun was out today i decided to start cleaning. it was in a worse state then i thought as water and bits were coming out of the water run off channels for ages, so just to clean it took over an hour, i also had some problems with bird poo, scratches, and moss around the windows. heres where ive got to so far....
heres a few pics before of the bird poo, and moss. ok so now i used the two bucket methord and auto glym shampoo with new spunge. this took me ages to get the car clean!!! as you can see there was quiet alot of tar on the car, so i used auto glym tar remover which i found ver effective if left for a few mins, it makes the tar run. i then used maguiars scratch remover so the car is clean and 80% of tar is removed, im now going to start claying the car. for the clay i used maguiars fast detail spray, and clay. then dry off with a micro fibre cloth. as you can see even after extensice washing, and tar removing there is still alot of dirt and defects on the paint. with all this done the remaind tar, and hard to remove gritty bits of dirt have been removed, to leave the car 99% clean. from start to now it took 5 hours, and was getting late in the day. the cars been covered until next weekend when ill wax, and protect.ill also remove the wheels, and clean under side, aswell as inside boot and then engine and enigine bay. ill post those pics up next week. heres how she looks now.
Once you have removed the tar I find provention the best form of attack. Wax wax and more wax. Tar comes off with the jetwash.
Once i got the car i used my snow lance then washed it and then applying a few coats of wax, This is when a noticed all the tar on the car, Will get a clay bar to see if i can remove it,
Focus ST's rule!!!
im a big fan of the Auto Glm products i use the super resin polish or the ultra deep shine polish and then protect it with the extra gloss protector, which is just like a liquid wax, means that all road grime and tar etc... just comes of the next time you wash it using a hose or jet wash.
Sooty,
Needs a WR1 now his WRX300 is sold Or a spec D
like i said im new to all this, but this is what im using.
clay - maguiars quick detail spray, and clay, polish -autoglym super-resin polish or megs deep crystal, glaze - Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze , seal - Meguiars #21 Synthetic Sealant v2.0 , wax - Dodo Juice (but i dont know which one to get yet) bro .... your right it shouldny have got like that.
1) Ditch the sponge and get a decent lambswool mitt.
2) Ditch the Water Blade and get a decent MF drying towel. 3) Get Autosmart Tardis instead of the AG tar remover, it's much better 4) Do all your claying/tar removal before any polishing. 5) Dont leave your MF's/applicators on the bench/ground as they can easily pick up dirt - yes I'm being anal but still... Other than that not a bad start Kev Going round corners just got a whole lot faster...
hi ive started using autoglym high definition wax and i find it to be very good easy to use as well !!
