I'm never gonna offer my opinion again (please note: I said opinion, not incontrovertible fact!)...

My comment was based on research of technical and anecdotal information, in conjunction with the best prices I've previously been quoted for the most highly regarded oils. From this I have created my own perception of value, irrespective of vendor profit margins, and come to the conclusion that Silkolene PRO-S best fits my requirements of Cost verses Quality.

Hence my original statement still stands...

If I receive any information that casts doubt on this decision, bearing in mind that I often deal with oil (lubrication and hydraulic) testing laboratories as part of my work, I reserve the right to change my mind and inform you all of the reasons.

......Until then, my car will be running on Silkolene PRO-S!

Everyone has there preferences for whatever reasons, and none of them reasons are based on wear measurment data (unless there is something i have not seen) so from an engineering point of view i just like to take issue when people say that XXX is the best oil, even if it matches my preference. I do this because i am a sad anal engineer and unfortunately a bit of a gobsh1te with it.

Silkolene ProS or Pro R is certainly among the best avaliable but to say it is the 'best' is purely circumstantial. Factor in that it is cheaper than its top line competitors and say its the 'best value' oil i would not disagree with but you did not say that.

You are making a massive assumption that people derive the concept of "value" in the same manor as yourself. Just because it is cheaper than the "top line" competitors it does not naturally follow that it is "best value".

I do note, however, that you're not anal enough to you ensure your spellings and grammar are correct (within a forum context).

If you take a look at my limited number of posts, you will notice how technical data, grammar and spelling have maintained a suitably high level throughout. I like to ensure my education hasn't been wasted!
