Hi Just had the car roaded (westec performance) and figures that came out were 311.9bhp & 252 lbs of torque, the car has been modified with HKS GD max clutch, HKS plugs & RS induction kit, earthing kit, GFB dump valve and is fully serviced every 4K. I am quite worried about the torque figure and wondered if anyone knows of problems that would cause this significant drop. I was told it could be the plugs and that it was not boosting very hard, but i have noticed no change in the engine characteristics and am very happy with the mods and in fact have noticed gains. I only roaded it as i wanted to get a reading before putting GFB pulleys, power enterprise timing belt and DCsports manifold,100cell sports cat and exhaust and Re-map please help BUDA

What work has been done to the ECU after the Induction kit was fitted? Messing around with induction, and not re-mapping, will cause power disparities. Could be something to do with the problem you are experiencing.

For any lack of bhp, ask Chris B for advice. He'll tell you how it's done PS: Your numbers indeed look pretty dissappointing for a WR1. That Torque figure is the one of a normal STi. Good luck, S.

Agree totally with gangsta there mate, Do anything engine wise and re-mapping is nearly always req,d, after your initial map(usually 550+vat) every time u add or alter things the map will usually need a "tweak" this however is alot cheaper usually only labour time/roller time as they have a record of the initial map for your car then,
Goodluk

I'm pretty certain that the induction kit is the root of your problems my friend. You would definitely need a remap after putting something like that on because of the changes to the airflow/quality etc. I think i'm right in saying it will increase boost so your ecu has probably gone into safe mode to protect the engine from blowing up - which would explain the power disparity. Also if the MAF sensor is damaged, from fitting the induction, that will cause a power disparity. Get it checked asap mate. Could be big bill time if you don't

your figures are well down as is mine..
After a lot of help from my local subaru dealer this week we have the problem. mine is standard and only creating 282.2 bhp when all the other are running at 316 - standard torque is well above yours
three wr1's in the local area are suffering from the same problem. All three cars have the same broken part. (oxygen sensor). the garage is suggesting a re-call to subaru UK Have this part checked

the induction kit without a remap will put a big hole in the mid range right where you dont want it, hence the poor torque, but it will still produce the power and feel nice at the top end. The plugs, im not sure exactly which ones they are, but if they are the surface discharge type get shot. also some of the jobies tagged as 'racing' are more for reliability and to stop breaking down at consistent high RPM NGK pfr7b's are what you want. you wont get them any cheaper than speaking to Richard small at www.pentlandcomponents.co.uk . top fella, tell him Marky Mark from P1woc sent you.
