Headlights problem

Postby The Swede » Sat Sep 24, 2005 7:51 am

My wife's scoob drives about 200 miles per month and this is now the second time in 4 months BOTH headlamp bulbs go.

Anybody ever seen the problem?

I only have the problem in summer. My guess is that since the plastic used on the modern cars cools much less than glass, my bulbs are overheating. In winter this is never a problem as it's always cold, but in summer, with lights also running at day time...
However, that means some of you (living on the tropical British island) must have similar problems.

How often do you change blubs for the headlamps ?

Anybody knows about bulbs that generate less heat than standard items ? (I used rally bulbs in the beginning, which generate a lot of heat. Then changed to standard Philips Premium, but with a similar problem)...

Same here. 3 Subaru's in 3 years and never lost a single bulb anywhere on the car. :?

Issue is we HAVE TO use lights all the time here, incl daytime.

These things are also located in a :2up: place in the scoob. The left hand one which is hidden behind the battery and to replace the right hand one, you need to get the air intake off (or have Japanese hands).

Next up: rear shock absorbers. I now got both of them knocking

try some PIAA bulbs -superwhite or chrome mirror white... or HID conversion.
if the PIAA bulbs do blow which is very rare then you will get a replacement provided its within 1 year.

i think its time to invest in some PIAA bulbs. if you want blue tint then go for Plasma Spark Blue or if you want bright white then either chrome mirror white or super white. they are expensive around seventy quid+. but they are well worth it. i find most impreza owners prefer the chrome mirror or super white bulbs. You wont be dissapointed. and they will last a long time.
