Defi Gauges

Postby wr1500 » Fri Jun 09, 2006 1:23 pm

I have had my defi gauges fitted now for a few days and i have noticed a noise coming form the area of the turbo or where the defi sensor is! Is this normal as in does the defi sensor need to vent off the supply its receiving? It is like a hissing noise and only does it when i put my foot down. All hoses look good i cant see any damage to any. What should my car be reading on full boost i have not carried out any performance mods? it reads 1.4 with my foot down i thought it was 1.3? is my car over boosting? dont what to course any damage to my motor! Any help at all to any think above would be a great help! Cheers guys!

Think i have solved my noise the pipe running frommy wastegate was very loose!

Where is everyones sensors mounted? it says in the instructions to have it pointing downwards, and for the pipe to be as short as possible. My pipe is about 6 inchs long and the sensor is diagonally pointing down not straight down, is this good enough, seems to be working fine like!

there is no such thing as wastegate chatter, but if you tell me exactly when it happens and what kind of noise it is im sure i can point you in the right direction.

Did it start only after you fitted the defis?
Do you have an aftermarket dump valve?
does i happen at all in negative boost, or is it just when boost is positive?

it happens when i put my foot down, under a heavy load, standard dump valve and started after defi's were fitted. sounds like it is coming from around the turbo area thats why i thought it was the wastegate.

Is it a whizzing noise? where abouts is your little black defi junction box.

On the bulkhead? near the turbo? or elsewhere?

sounds like turbo stutter to me!!! like what you get when an induction fitted and they ramp up teh pressure on the turbo!!

does it happen at low revs only when u floor it? if so change to a lower gear before flooring it
