sticky clutchmarky mark - it was me that text you !
clutch seems to be sticking any idea why ?
Ha Ha.
I was not sure if it was you or a lad off the P1 site. Define sticking? what exactly is it doing?
go to change gear clutch down and it gets stuck near the bottom when trying to come back up (sometimes) did it loads yesterday and a bit today, very on and off though
fooking car, just as i thought i was getting somewhere with it !
Does not sound as though anything wrong with the clutch, more the operating system.
First thing to look at is the mechanics in the pedal box. Check the clevis pin spring is not catching on anything or the pin has not worked its way out and is interfering with the pedal box. Not sure about the actuating mechanism on Evo's (at the gearbox end now) but most cars have a lever that the slave cylinder presses onto, and normally this will have a return spring on it. Is this missing or is the lever fouling something? The other mechanical thing it could be is an engagement problem with the lever and release bearing, but this is not a DIY check really as its gearbox out. If its none of these it will be a hydraulic problem. Try bleeding it out first but its more likely to be a seal problem in the master or slave cylinder.
I knew I could rely on you for info.
If only I could understand ANY of that ! makes me realise how little i really know about cars.
I understood the first line mate, and that it doesnt sound serious!
you have to understand I am almost certainly the least technical of anyone on here adn i will gladly admit it, so really i wouldnt know where to start with checking the things you discussed. I'm happy that you don't think it's serious. i've been for another drive since and it's not done it at all, so it does seem strange it's itermittent...
try lifting your foot of the pedal sorry off topic but could'nt resist 2007 BMW M5
2004 Petter Solberg STi
thanks I will try that as I havent tried that before
that's the plan. just a damn shame ware are so far away and mitsi oxford are too sh1te for me to consider using them
I had the same problem with my former Merc (after 150000 miles though). It was the hydraulic cilinder operating the clutch that had started leaking.
Just go back to Ware ! Don't tell me it's that far. Another excuse for a good blast with the car
indeed, will go back to ware at some point.
seems might be an odd feeling on brake and accelerator now too
Erm... you are aware the warranty will be invalidated if they find out you been preparing yourself to run the Rally of GB
car's clean now mate
update
the brake pedal is also sticky, and i might be imagining things but i think accelerator could be, will know more after a long trip tomorrow
probably will do mate... cheers
car was as good as gold yesterday and today 250 miles done.
wierd. will see how the next couple of days go...
