I guess headers are a partial solution. Some will not agree with this!
JDM car (twinscroll and equal length headers) is another option.
Other than that maybe you need a V8 lump under the hood?
Final solution is to drive it like you stole it and drop the clutch a little more aggressively at higher revs!

some good advice above. WR1's as standard really don't do much until 4k revs! it's not just yours

Bro is correct, but you need ported standard headers, not aftermarket tubular.
A remap will help a little bit.
The main problem is a turbo that is big enough to support 350 BHP is not easy to get spooled up.
The real solution is to get a more efficient turbo, like a twin scroll, or put a smaller VF on thet will crop your top end a bit!

I once had a run against a remapped but unmodded WR1 in my standard car. It did pull away from me to start with but mine gained more in the mid range.
Too petty to be a traffic warden...

mmm to be honest thats what i thought i had an equal length manifold on my bugeye wrx and it did the trick but missed the grumble and to be honest it felt laspe at top end of rev range have just fitted a straight through centre to back box pipe which seems to have made a slight difference so think gonna get it mapped and give it a bit more revs

my wr1 didnt "redline" till past the redline, it would be happy to go to 8k revs, if it doesnt, take it back and tell them to fix it !

But you would have been going faster if you changed up earlier. The power curve at that RPM is nose diving faster than Bro's social manners in a public gathering.

true, i found in the wr1 though that perhaps due to the gearing or something i was hitting the redline before i wanted to change, the evo seems to pull further in each gear and suits me better in this respect. was also more comfortable with the gearing in the rb5

My social skills are exemplary when required. When in relaxed mode around friends... yes, they can be shocking!

This depends on your idividual car. Even though it is a generic map there are many component interactions that influence the power curve.

could you talk us through some of the component interactions ?

All components have tolerances that impact on performance. One air filter might let a little more air through, one pistons might be closer to the equilibrium than the pistons in another car etc etc. I suspect the best way of having two "identical" cars to perform approximately the same is to have their engines blueprinted. I'm sure Marky Mark can add more value to this discussion than myself.

This stuff is intuitive... it doesn't mean I can explain it like succinctly like yourself. Life is full of variation and tolerance. Some days I choose to tolerate you less than other days!
