Centre Section

Postby WR1 Bro » Wed Feb 28, 2007 10:07 am

Does anyone know if the Hayward and Scott centre section is slightly longer than the Blitz centre section?

With the Blitz back box and centre section I have to keep polishing my bumper as the wax discolours from the exhaust fumes. A friend had the same back box but attached to a Hayward and Scott centre section and he didn't have the same problem. Could it be that a slightly longer centre section would push out the back box that little bit more that ultimately solves the problem marks on the rear bumper?

Maybe he didn't wax his WR1?

Or, could the decat push out the entire exhaust system?

nice to see you have put the question in the wrong forum on here as well as SN!

The difference could be in the centres, or the downpipes, or even on the mounting (there is a solid slotted bracket at the bottom of the DP.

Without putting side by side or speaking to Blitz and HS i think you will struggle for a definitive answer.

*uck knows how this ended up in the for sale section. Regards Scoobynet.... who gives a stuff.

My confusion is, how much play can there be in the fixing of the back box to allow the centre section to push it out?

Can you either answer the question or refrain from bitching on my thread please Mr Shrimp Boy!

i did bitch, but i did give a serious answer.

The backbox is on rubbers, the downpipe mount and centre are on slots. There has to be a big range for fitment because of the stack up of tolerances on the related components (engine mounts etc...etc...)

How much are you looking for? I can easily machine a spacer to go between backbox and centre section. You will have to use a gasket either side and longer bolts but thats not a big problem.

That sounds like a better plan.

Spike told me that the Hayward and Scott centre section fit straight onto a blitz backbox. Seems Hayward and Scott say this is incorrect information. Glad I did not just order the centre section as recommended by Spike. Pays to check what people tell you on these forums as sometimes people just want to look like they know what they are talking about and don't seem to mind the bother they will cause you if you just accept what they say. Spike you are a t**t.

Marky "Shrimpo" Mark - I will discuss this on the phone when I am next out having a walk/jog.
