Car HandlingHiya,
I was wondering what you guys have done to get the handling of the WR1 any better. I had a go out in a bugeye scooby yesterday that had whiteline kit on it and tein superstreet coilovers. On bumpy B roads the car was taking off and very bouncy even on softest tein settings so that put me off completely. On flatter roads the car felt very solid and planted which to me felt like it was more of a track oriented solution. However i did like the fact that the car didnt roll much on the corners unlike mine. Would front and rear anti roll bars and an anti lift kit give me what i am looking for to keep my car flatter but not compromise ride quality or was it a case of these coilovers being the wrong ones to live with day to day. I use the car daily to commute in so dont want the ride too harsh especially for 3hr drives on the motorway etc. Advice please?
Tein = rock hard on a newage IMO and not very useable for day to day.
Exe-tc are a superb coilover and will give comfort and control. 22mm front and rear adjustable ARB's would be a great upgrade - I would give the ALK a miss (it is not an anti lift kit) Duncan : www.racedynamix.com

Having had the Exe-tc fitted today... the ride is superb but I already knew that having driven Pastys car. Car is more fluid and more precise. The damping on the Exe-tc enables you to remove the rear squatting under acceleration which clearly improves the turn in. I've only played with a couple of settings but I'm gagging to get out in Kylie again tomorrow to set the dampings to the softest setting and slowly firm them up on roads I know to fully appreciate the difference.
FYI I already have the whiteline ARBs, ALK, adjustable drop links and mounts. My drop links have been on approx three years and already the rears need replacing. Having said that, I will be replacing them next week and I have no doubt for my budget that the car will be everything I want with respect to handling.
I will be posting a thread about my experience at AS Performance today. However, in summary and without exception, they were superb. My car got treated with complete respect only ever matched by Marky Mark and Adam at Autotecnica in Buxton. Some companies and people go the extra mile and charge a very reasonable price for their service. I couldn't recommend ASP. They were everything I've ever had from Adam and Marky Mark.
Example, suspension was fitted and the car was ready to go. Not only did they then generally inspect the car they took off the ARBs to regrease them and they also got on and emptied the catch tank and generally checked the car from underneath. This is the sort of service I've only ever previously had from Adam and obviously my beloved Marky Mark. People to speak to at ASP. Alyn as he knows a lot and is very honest. Also the two lads that worked on my car. What struck me most at ASP was Craig. Very young lad but SO focused, dedicated, passionate and without doubt very knowledgable. Even to the extent that he could explain technical things to a muppet like myself. 320 mile round trip and worth every second.
Bro - do the anti lift kit and drop links make any noticeable difference to your car as some people have said you wouldnt notice anything unless you do a lot of track work from these two parts being bolted on...?
I totally disagree.
i spoke to hypertech about bc coilovers, tempted to get them fitted myself
think if i remember 700 plus 150 fitting. whiteline arb 130 free fitting, then a wheel alignment and a front strut brace Gracing the drive.....BMW M3 E92 with all the toys!/Integra DC5/ Integra DC2 race car/BMW X5

To be honest Stevie I really can't remember. All I remember thinking at the time was how cheap it was. Mind, it doesn't take long. Maybe Alyn would remember or quote you a price?
No worries Bro when I am home next
will phone Alyn, I have some pennies to burn and want to improve the handling, plus when I was home last had a very light knocking so maybe the dreaded shockers are on the way. Cheers WR1 Number 476
