What is the ideal place to have the rev warning beeper come on? I assume it could be a good way to indicate a gear change is needed.
I suppose, technically, it would be perfect to have it mark the point where the power starts to tail off and where changing up a gear would drop the revs to just before the peak of the power. If this is the case... where should it be set?
I bet there is a scientific method to work this out using gear ratios and a dyno print out...? But I bet you guys already know the answer.
Sorry if I'm being anal, the cars still new and want to know everything about it.

When I had my scoob, I checked how long it took me between hearing a beep and shifting up.
Next see how high in revs you want to go when and count back.
I think I used to have mine around 6200rpm. Gave the time to hear the blip and change gear at the right moment.
So to answer your question, get the right moment to shift "scientifically" and then add your own personal reaction time to it.

You won't find that answer here.
Why don't you do some research.
You need to figure out how much revs your drop at each gearchange and the work out at what point you shift so that you don't fall into a revrange where you have less power than at the point where you shifted up. Simples.

That is exactly what I meant to say. I couldn't word it like that. Excellent..
Where can I find the gear ratios for the WR1? It's not in the handbook...

You don't need the gear ratios, you need to go out for a drive and shift up high in revs and check how many rpm it drops.

Peak point to change would be about 6750rpm so set your change light /bleeper to approx 6400 rpm to allow for reaction time.

Peak power came at 5800rpm in the WR1.
(Ever heard of google ? )

Cool. what makes 6750 the best place then?

Who said 6750 was the right place ?
It's probably because, if you shift at 6750 the revs drop to exactly that point on the rev curve before 5800rpm where the engine has the same power...
(or because you're about to hit the rev limiter )

the bleeper is a stupid gimmick, as far as i am concerned each gear has its own best rpm to change up from..depends on torque!! shift lights are set at different rpm for each gear. i used to use the bleeper to save fuel when i felt in a sensible mode. which wasnt often. and if you want to get the best experiance from your wr1...track day!! i took mine to knockhill and it was great. apart from the guys in the novas and chevettes who thought it was a banger race!!

Turn the ignition till the dash lights up don't start it, then using the little stalk on the left side of the clock faces turn it. Can't mind the order it goes from memory but it'll ask to set the shift point then leave it a few seconds & it'll ask on or off turn the stalk till it says on then leave it & it should set itself.
