Haha. What made me ask was someone told me that on an older impreza he fitted a battery that was too powerful and fried the ecu!

The only way a battery for a Subaru could be "too powerful" is if it was greater that 12volts. The electrics in the car are all designed to operate from a potential of 12volts. If you apply say 24volts to them, it may well damage/stress the components, yes.

Are they just the same as no-maintenance battery? Like you get on a bike? Focus ST's rule!!!
I think so, They are much Smaller and lighter.. I Know Chris B has one ..

Ive just been an brought one from Halfrauds which should be fine! [/quote You get battery's with more amps hour in them maybe thats what fried his ecu .You need to 12volt batterys to make 24volts or batterty charge that does 24volts 05 REG JDM Sti zl
I've bought one from them too as mine ran out of puff on Xmas Eve. £83 I think it was.
