Just keeps your engine ticking over until the heat soak is reduced if you have been driving hard... you don't want to turn your engine off straight away as the heat from the exhaust/turbo impellers will not do them any good... you could always just drive easy the last couple of miles on the way home and reduce excess heat that way to save you buying a timer!!

think it is mainly to do with preserving the turbo by keeping the oil circulating. As John says, just switching off will stop the circulation and any excessive heat will boil it up inside the turbo.

I think that oil related issues are the number one killer for all turbos.

Total gimmick, its nothing more than a fancy name for an electronic egg timer.
Rule of thumb is if you have just been pootling round give it 1-2 mins and if you've been giving it some then 3-5 mins. As John said drive the last bit of your journey nice and easy and this will reduce time needed idling when you stop.

If you must get a timer just get a 3min egg timer then you have some pretty coloured sand to watch falling which will relax you at the end of your journey

Bro should just get a cardboard cutout of himself and put it in the drivers seat, that would scare anything...

(I know it would need a lot of cardboard)

you can lock the car before the engine shuts down, BUT not with a fully functioning Cat1 alarm system as the 2x systems are in conflict..........

personally i never see the need but each to their own
