Ok guys, Having got a surprise when I first floored the WR1 and the red light and beep beep sound started I soon realised what it was... My question is what is the best revs setting to set it at. It was set at 6100 but I decided to adjust it up to 6500 since the rev counter red line is well over the 7000 mark. My thoughts are that I should allow it to rev beyond peak power point, but not too far, so that the pickup on the next gear change is much closer to the peak power range too and so doesn't loose too much trying to get back up there. What do you guy all think ?

I have mine set at 6500 too. Some people think that is too high but I disagree. At the end of the day you don't HAVE to redline everywhere you go.
In addition, it isn't as though you REALLY need a beep beep to tell you when you change gear.
Sounds like you are enjoying your purchase. I hope it keeps putting a smile on your face which I'm sure it will. Especially as you have some of the best roads at your disposal!!

I find about 6000/6100 is best as when you change gear at this revs you are back down too 4500 where it seams to pull the hardest.
Ant,
Had an my99 uk classic,
Then got P1 (0329),
Then got a brand new WR1 (092),
Then got a my00 UK Classic,
Then got another P1 (0488), Now Sold.

Driving a MY00 not a WR1 so the power band is diff.
Iv set mine about 5500-5600 so by the time my brain clicks and iv gone to change gears its about 6200-6500 rpm.
Why you stalking me cuz you don't even drive a Subaru?

Why ? I find it's more of a fun gadget. If you need this to feel when to ideally change gear, I'm sorry to say, and with all respect, but you're driving the wrong car. A Mercedes C200 CDi Automatic or a Legacy Estate with Autobox are more your kind of car. If set it around 6900rpm too so it just beeps at the moment I change up. Just sounds cool. It could indeed be an indicator for other people driving your car. But I found the STi would be brutal enough to scare them off already long before they reached 6000rpm.

Sandy the only reason i turned it of is because it was bloody annoying and i don't need a alarm/buzzer to tell me when to change gear otherwise i buy a automatic and nobody else drives my car besides i have Helen who tells me when to change
