TOYO T1 R " OR " S?can any1 help! after searching threds here there everywhere toyo,s seem to be the tyres of choice, but whats the diff between the typr r and type s?
any1 had both? thanking u all in anticipation, spikey
I have T1-S on my car ... bloody excellant but get worn pretty quickely.
As I understand it (and I'm not 100% sure) the T1-R is the update for the T1-S - and has a different tread pattern Toyo do a tyre called the R888 which is a semi slick road tyre which is absolutely awesome ... but that only lasts about 5000 miles. I'm very happy with my T1-S's but still do not think they are better than the Pirellis. Just my opinion of course.
Hei Smurf, I assume you're not using your car when it rains... From my side, I'd stay away from any tyre that does not grip in the rain. The handling of the STi is so good that on the dry, even with less grippy tyres, it's gonna be hard to notice the difference on normal roads (I didn't say trackdays). You'll get rid of anything bar an FQ400 anyway and squeezing those last seconds of your trip will be more down to driver skill and traffic than tyres. However, in the wet or in slippery circumstances, a well driven hot hatch with proper tyres can get rid of even the best scoob on inadequate rubber. If I need to change my tyres, I'd look towards a Michelin Pilot Sport or so. If you want, I'll ask one of my Belgian buddy's for his opinion. He's a journalist specialised in tyres and works for a rally magazine.
Hmmm... That period of the month again sti ? Pretty simple though. Worked 5 years as free-lance car journalist when I was studying. As it wasn't my profession, I didn't need to compete with anybody and kept quite a few friends. (unlike here, I try to not upset too many people in R/L ) Worked afterwards for 3 years in global centre of excellence for automotive industry of one of the Big Five consultancies. Also there got in touch with many people who were expert in certain parts of the automotive business. Dropped the chap above a line. He's really good on tyres as he always manages to drive the latest stuff. Plus he's a rallyfan (and amateur driver), so he only knows one way of driving: flat out ! Hope he's got any good suggestions.
One generation younger than you are. (if you wanna calculate: 6 years at Uni' of which I worked last 5 years for car mags in Belgium. Worked 6 months with Merc while doing my final thesis with them and joined one of the Big five consultancies after graduation. Stayed 6 years with them, left 2 years ago. Good enough ? Anything else you wanna know about me, Dad ! )
let me know all about your contacts in this country, it would be nice to verify your age, you don't sound to bad for an old man.
Lived for 7 years in the UK and still registered there. Only here as expat'. So I got a bit of list of people I know in Britain. If there's an event while I'm over in UK end of the summer or we manage to move back before the scoob is out of lease, I'll come over. PS: I don't think our chat is helping Mike, stijoy...
he knows he will be getting some goodyear's next, a lot on here swear by them, and they give the wheels a lot more protection.
Which GoodYears do they use ? Don't they wear too quickly ? Never know a set of GoodYears to last.
F1 GS-D3's See here........... http://www.goodyear.co.uk/services/tyreguide/feat_eagle_f1_gsd3.html Sold out and bought an EVO......then sold it because it was rubbish!
Toyo's seem quite a bit cheaper than Pirellis or GoodYear.
I always get mine from Mytyres.net. A set of 225/40/18 Michelin Pilot Sport is about 128 GBP, the PS2 is 137 GBP. Toyo is around 96 quid and F1 about 110 if I am not wrong. What are the toyo's like in the wet ?
too late for that !! kerbed already , heard the toyo,s are good in the wet also,so it looks like it will be the r,s ,any1 fancy a group buy on some toyo,s in about 4 wks?
So you spent 6 years at uni and you can't even add up your own age, you need us to do it for you?!? Too petty to be a traffic warden...
