Hi there advise please, timing belt was change on subaru service at 50.000 miles or 60 months car had covered only 20,075 (16/10/2009) it was then service 01/12/10 for 60,000 miles or 72 months car had covered only 24,509.When would you need to have the timing belt replace would it be down to mileage or period of time.

you do it on time OR mileage, whichever comes first............
so even if you did no miles for the next few years you would still change it at the 5yr anniversary

Rubber deteriorates with age thats probably why you need to change them with age.

yes, just to clarify thats mileage OR time.............
2000miles in 5yrs and its time to change the belt due to age OR 60K in 2yrs and its time to change because of mileage limit..........
