BAGPIPES AT 120 MPH+

I THINK THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT NEEDS ADDRESSING;
LOOKING AT A PREVIOUS POST THIS A COMMON PROBLEM!
EVERYONES EXPERIENCING A LOUD HUMMING NOISE IN MEDIUM TO HIGH WINDS AT ABOVE 100 MPH (SPEEDS VARY)

IVE JUST COME OUT OF AN STI-8 INTO MY WR1 & NEVER HAD BAGPIPES WITH THAT (ITS EXACTLY THE SAME CAR!)!!!!!!!!!

GOT ME THINKING, THE ONLY PHYSICAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO CARS ARE THE WHEELS/FOGS & THE MESH GRILL, SO DOES ANYBODY THINK THE CAUSE COULD BE FROM ONE OF THESE???
IN MY OPINION ITS A MAJOR DESIGN FLOOR & NEEDS TO BE SORTED!!!

I HATE BMW'S BUT YOU'D NEVER EXPECT THAT KIND OF NOISE FROM AN M3!!!!!!!

LOOK AT THE VALUE OF OUR CARS AS WELL, SOME PEOPLE WILL THINK OF ANY REASON TO DE-VALUE A WR1.
I KNOW NOT EVERYBODY LIKES TO DRIVE AT THOSE SPEEDS A LOT BUT COME ON GUYS WE OWN THE FASTEST EVER IMPREZA, THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE SHOULD BE PERFECT!!!!!!!

I get bag pipes at 100 mate. :(

Im on the case as i speak.

The most probable fix will be one of those trims that go over the 2 windows.

Ive seen this on another WR1 at the Rolling Road.

I've been around the 140 mark (private test track of course) and had no problem at all, at that speed my old classic was very noisy mainly from the rear windows, but nothing noticable at all with no. 12 ........sumo.

I've only had it happen once at 120 with strong gusts of winds hitting the car.

I always thought when it happened on my classic that it was air pressure building up on the inside pushing the windows outwards.

Yep i get the noises also!

I also had them on my sti8, mentioned it to the dealer but not a lot they could do as they cant test drive the cars at speed hehehe. So i live with it.

Spoke to IM and they say.. Because of the High Speed that this happens the Local dealer cant test it .

This i agree as i would not want my dealer going for 130 in a 60

So we have hit a Brick wall.. im sure something can be sorted.

Ill keep you informed :)

If you have a good dealer won't they change or check the door rubber or the alignment of the door?

My old WRX MY01 always did it at high speed.
Been up to 135 mph so far and no problems.
I always thought it was the windows on the WRX
Cheers

Had it to 140 on more than one occassion and regulary over 120 ,I dont have any probs. Not saying that there is not any noise, just nothing that i have noticed and troubles me.

Turn the radio up !, I changed mine and upgraded it, nice to have the choice of listening to the exhaust or some good music.

Maybe its due to Wind Direction and Air Pressure ?

I think it must be because mine did it at about a hundred today, along a bit of tarmac where i've not had any problems previously.

What if we took someone from the dealers out in the car with them as a passenger to show them when it happens?

130 and no noise out of the ordinary except for a passenger window switch that vibrates and do you think I can stop the Ba*tard thing, I'll have to put up with it till I upgrade the speakers when the whole lots got to come off...!

Saw some Side Window covers on a WR1 today..
A Bllack strip that goes from the front window oveer to the rear.
It stops all wind from getting under the glass :)

Subaru dealers supply them as well :)
