Wr1 with EBC red stuff pads. Not sure if it is my car but i have just had these pads fitted after reading lots of info on here about some people using them.
Now i have to say it does not feel like these are capable of stopping me. Over a short distance no issue. Over a long distance ummm well we have had a few near misses. Maybe i am spoilt maybe the R32 brakes were better than i gave them credit for but the R32 brakes certainly felt a lot sharper and did not seem to suffer from brake fade which is a guess what i am suffering.
Anyone else have experience of this set up.

Any advice?

no experience with redstuff pads, from memory these are cheap, and therefore probably not the best. really depends how hard you are on brakes. if you've got the standard brembos and discs and you're hammering them, they will fade. if you're not totally hammering them and they're still fading sounds like could be down to the pads?

I hear a few lads like The red stuff pads so bought them for the Type R (Brembo GT's) kept them on for a 1000 miles to make sure they had bedded in but found I did not rate um...Changed to 2,500's and have used these ever since even on the WR1.

What discs are on the Wr1? I know i have brembo calipers. Probably sound like a right one.

i would say i have given the R32 more abuse and it coped brilliantly.
Umm i would say its not too heavy braking.
What are the 2,500?

Ferodo DS2500 fast road/track pad. No cheap but a very good all round pad.

if the braking is not heavy and your getting fade something is wrong, i'd suggest pads, or could the discs be worn? what mileage has the car got and do you know if the discs have been replaced

when i had the wr1 i used standard pads, then the ferodos, the ferodos were a lot better for fast road use as bob says. still, the brembo brakes werent really good enough for track use

My main concern with red stuff pads was they seem to want a lot of warming up. First few corners in the morning I thought I had next to no brakes. Also on the motorway when at speed the pads cooled and a sudden slam on gave me a few frights...

the car has done nearly 17k now. As far as i am aware the discs are still the originals. Got all the receipts and there is no mention of them being changed.

So everytime i might need to stop in an emergency i need to warm them up first. ummm does not give me much confidence

These ferodo pads do they just do what they say on the packet and stop u or do they need to be warmed up first as well?

I am sure this is more of a cultural shock as the R32 would stop u on a five pence piece and that was the standard system

Echo Bobs comments heat them up gently and they'll stop you up very well

I have used the Ferodo DS2500 on a few std classics a P1 a Type R and now the WR1. Have never had any problems with them hot or cold.

Using the Ferodo 2500 myself & would highly recommend them. They don't really need to be warmed up & give a good bite from the 1st press of the pedal after setting of. They are also less prone to fade compared to original pads. Expect to pay between

The Car is desperatly in need of new pads.. The trader knocked me down on price because it needed pads. Can't believe he never had them done

ebc red stuff pads on work well with the turbo groove discs - we have tghem on many imprezas inc wr1's.. and they work very well.. if you want better then a big caliper conversion is the way to go.

I'd agree with Osaka, the I've got Redstuff Ceramic and Turbogroove all around and don't have problems with brake fade (tried and tested on the Isle of Man, for those who know those roads).

Are you running the standard fluid? You should upgrade to DOT 5.1 and at the same time fit braided hoses for about

ebc red stuff pads work just fine ono the WR1. What most people forget is they work well with the Turbo Groove Discs. They are not designed to work without those discs.
We have fitted them on numerous versions of the Impreza inc many WR1's. No complaints!!
