ok guys, i went to look at a fmic today at scoobyworld, its not a brand name nor is it expensive....310quid. but it looked ok..seemed stronge good welds...etc. not knowing alot about this i need some advise...is therenalot of diffrence between this and say a "APC" intercooler other then name or price??? :?

Its a hybrid, or one of the many copies.

They work well enough, but the quality and fitment is nowhere near that of an APS.

I think they look awful on the new age cars anyway, they dont fill the bumper like an APS and look very out of place IMHO.

Tha main question is, why are you thinking of fitting a FMIC? What turbo are you planning on having? Its a bit pointless putting a FMIC on with your VF35, it will compromise the driveability a good bit.

wr1mposters turbo, injectors, caik, and hayward and scott exhaust.plus u wont see it behind the grill...

aaahhh i see.

It will work fine at that spec, but as i said they are not even in the same ballpark quality wise as an APS. I have fitted both types to various cars.

You will see it behind the grill. Unless its black and completely fills the hole like an APS they are visible.

overall tho....good value for money??? eventually i will upgrade it but for now will id do??? what power gains would it offer?

Problem is you will have to hack your bumper for the hybrid, then if you put an APS on the hacking won't be same.

They are good value, the cores work well.

Power gains? depends what you are comparing it to and the rest of the spec. If you are using imposters turbo with a standard intercooler then putting one on will liberate quite a few horses. Poooster will probably be able to tell you exctly how much it did on his own car.

Only put a FMIC on if your spec requires it (i.e you are likely to sufffer with high charge temps)

looks ok to me??? lmao i spoke to martain last night he seemed to think it would run fine with the standard ic. so for now i think ill leave it, and upgrade properly when the funds are avalible. thanks for you help.

I would have thought that for the spec you are going to be running and power target the TMIC will still do the job. bear in mind the type 25 uses the same TMIC at 420ish BHP (even though it's a 2.5)

Keep the tmic until you can get the aps top notch jobby :wink:
