Hi Chris, I hope you don't mind me starting a new thread but I thought these pics needed some further information from yourself. Can you explain the purpose and the impact on ride for us less knowledgable folks. Chris B wrote:New rose jointed castor block and front bush. Mark is the man really,but rose joints have no movement so everything feels very sharp,all the race cars have them,when Olly Clark went out in my car he said it felt very precise and it seems to go into corners/bends very well. PS I d'ont mind you starting a new thread Bro.

The top pic show the front wishbone with the new rose joints I have on order from STI in japan the rose jointed track rods which will complete the suspension.I'll try to get some better pics up for you asap.

I fully understand what they are there for chris, but i would be interested in your assesment of them.
Obviously by replacing all the metalastik bushes, soft joints etc. with Rose joints and ball end joints (which are metal to metal) there will be no slop or give at all. As Chris says it is a race car thing, You dont see this stuff on road cars really unless they are very extreme.
That's why i am a little suprised Chris has put them on, His car has always struck me as a nice comfortable place to be in - A road car with a monster engine but just as nice to drive as standard.
It will give you a very direct feel indeed, and also mean that when you have a geometry change or re-align you will really notice the difference. There will be no 'wollyness' from when you turn the wheel to when the car turns etc...
Downsides are they can make the car a bit crashy on B roads etc and all the little road foilbles will be fed straight through to the chassis unfiltered by the rubbers found in the o.e set up. They can also become very Squeaky and require far more maintenance than Metalastik bushes.
I would be interested in your genuine comments on what you think of them Chris? I'm sure when the whole set up is done it will feel great when you are in attack mode on a smooth road, but i am not so sure bimbling down the B roads?

I will be reporting back on how things feel,at present some of the odd squeaks have gone,which may seem strange to say,I had some up-rated front bushes in the front wishbones and I was getting some squeaks from them,and I was getting the odd squeak from the rear links,that has now gone,so everything is pretty good so far.

I talk of 'crashyness' simply because theory says you should get this a lot more than a standard set up.
I dont know anyone who runs this set up on the road and i have not driven anything like that so if ChrisB says it's compliant as standard than i will take his word for it.

i'm also really interested, as that's the only mod i might think about doing to my car - rosejointing the track rod ends, and possibly the ball joints. after previously always driving front wheel drive cars with superb turn-in (i.e. my 205 gti, 306 s16 etc) i've always considered the scooby to have relatively poor turn-in and be disappointingly understeery unless you really cook the power into a bend, or give it a bit of lift-off, either way - do something get the backside out, but lets face it-thats a bit silly to be doing on the public roads now isnt it?! being as the scooby doesn't have computer gismos like the evo which simply tighten the line of the car, even if you stamp on the brakes at the apex of the bend in the evo, the SuperActiveYawControl sorts it all out leaves you feeling like a hero (which i think really detracts from the driving experience - one of the main reasons why i bought a scooby) anyway, really lookin forward to what you think chris, as if i can do anything, even if it only helps a tiny bit, i would love to get better grip on turn-in cheers
