Car has been remapped todayJust want to say thanks to Dynamix for remapping my car today. Always thought my car was lumpy and he noticed straight away that it was over boosting. So when i boot it the car would get power then ease off then get power again and so on. He sorted that out with the map as well as giving it a little bit more power by raising the boost. Car is now smoother when accelerating hard and drives nicely. Will have a good blast over the weekend and test the map more as it was rush hour when we finished so didnt get chance to test it out fully.
Next you'll want 400bhp Last edited by Foley on Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:24 am, edited 1 time in total.
Cant afford the 5-6k price tag to get 400bhp so a remaps the alternative and well worth it
racedynamixDuncan is a great guy and very good at mapping he mapped my car on the road (great fun ) it starts off feeling slow and gets faster and faster do you have launch control ? if so test it its excellent mine was running just over 1.5 boost on his computer but my deffis was reading 1.6 or even 1.7 on cold mornings it pulls .8bar boost on launch control i have full decat and cold side induction kit and yes i want 400+bhp 800cc injectors / md321t turbo/ fuel regulator / headers/ should be good and when it go bang i will want 500 bhp internal time

Re: racedynamix
Yes ive got launch control and it works nicely - not going to test it until after bruntingthorpe just in case my already dodgy clutch waves goodbye.. Yer 1.5 bar boost and it pulls from a about 900 rpm earlier in the rev range. Power is smooth and third and fourth now pull like a train. Really impressed with it. I looked at buying rockos bits but to get it reliable on a daily driver would cost just short of 6k which I cant really justify just yet. However It may be possible to simply swap the turbo and injectors when i get bored of the power and get 70% performance without spending the 6k to make it breathe better etc. Dont know if anyone else has done this before. If exhaust gets a hole in it i will no doubt swap it for a 3" full system but leaving the car looking and sounding as it is for now. What power was your car running at the end with your mods Ian?
megamanHi there mega i dont the bhp duncan said it will be around the 340bhp mark (no rolling road ) but its deffo faster than it was before .i went out with the MSOC today to give the car a run and yes it goes very very well but i must say the engine oil gets hot deffi gauge was up to 110 at one point so i think i will put a big oil cooler on for the next tune. i would like to keep the prodrive backbox on as i got a 4.5" tailpipe backbox and it was way to loud for me its in the shed now for tunnel runs only the prodrive box is loud enough for me my decat downpipe is massive though i will give it an oil change before brunter's i think getting excited allready

yer be careful at brunters as they have noise limits so decats might not be let on the track. No idea on my power figures he mentioned 342 to me but said its not very accurate. id be happy with a rolling road figure of 320 to be honest as my cars always been slow and lumpy since i got it - looks like this over boost issue has been the big cause of a lot of my probs and maybe even my 13mpg stop start traffic mpg to and from work... but we will see...
My pleasure - Cheers for the good words guys

Yes thanks Duncan did my wrx at the same time and its made a hell of a difference, big smiles all round
unless Duncan has transplanted a new lighter foot, the cause of your low mpg is not the mapping
+1 my car has not got any better on fuel.after remap . i used nearly half a tank on sunday with MSOC on a round trip of about 30 miles it was great fun and left a major smile on me face well worth every penny WR1 #116
hmm well ive done about 77 miles and down to about half a tank - problem being i like using the new found power
dont tell the missus that the cars going to be doing 140 a tank instead of 160 now lol
When I see some of these mpgs being posted I really do start to panic! I am sure I must drive like Miss Daisy's chauffeur (after the right foot was amputated). I filled the 1 up twice in the last month- it did 275 miles on the first tank and 282 on the second. That didn't even include any motorway driving. What am I doing wrong? Why can't I get shitty mpg like everyone else? Should I take it back to Subaru and ask them to look at it urgently as it appears to be too economical?

By way of a genuinely serious reply, have you checked the running power of your 1? The reason I say this is that I was getting 250+ until I found out I had a TD04L turbo fitted When I had a VF35 fitted.... it dropped a lot
Sadly John I have. It has been on a rolling road in the last few months- it recorded 315.1 bhp......so I can't even blame that
Anyway can't talk now as Miss Daisy needs me to finish off her pink rinse. L
With regards to mpg - I spent a week driving it smoothly / slowly changing at 2,000 rpm to and from work and managed to increase my miles from 160miles showing at just under 1/4 of a tank on the petrol gauge, to 223. However this was seriously slow and well out of the power band. Cruising on a motorway I have had 190ish before but i find above 65 that the car was incredibly thirsty. Very surprised that Crockel can get 282 out of the car. Those figures are WRX figures not STI figures. Most STIs get up to 250 max when driven slowly from the people ive spoken to where as a WRX can hit just over 300 miles to a tank motorway driving i think.
No idea why mine is so uneconomical, like I say its not like i do floor it everywhere, its just all stop start rush hour driving 16 miles each way takes me an hour sometimes more to get to and from work every day. Not surprised the car is thirsty right now as I have naturally been "running in" the new map... By the way John, if you knew you had to buy a new turbo at the time, why stick the oem one on and not something a bit pokier?
On the basis of how I drive I think the pace will be slow and steady
I am struggling to think of other reasons now.
I have noticed though that my b.o. is much worse than normal and when I woke up this morning a tag was attached to my big toe with my name on. L
Sorry to make you feel worse but iv had 297 miles to a tank on the motorway doing between 70-80 mph. I would say in town driving I get around 180-200 miles per tank . Running around 346 bhp
2 reasons: 1 - I was at Scooby Clinic and I didn't want to end up with a slagged up piece of sh*te mother fookin turbo made from a bin lid strapped on with a tie wrap and sticking through my boot 2 - JP was mincing around....
On the motorway, when other sporty cars come along side you, do you get the urge for a quick blast with them? im thinking that might be part of my problem...
Nope-I just nestle back on my bead seat cover, take another 'sup' on my pipe and keep her at a nice steady 50mph in the middle lane. L
I thought you really rated scooby clinic John... after all didnt you say their place is like a scrap yard? must remind you of the good old days in liverpool From what JP told me you two had an "in depth" discussion whilst hanging around... Which of you was actually "in depth"?
fpmsl - I see he made a big impression here
