G'day all. I have been lurking here for a while now, well about 4 years to be precise ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif) .
About 6 years ago I was looking into buying either a P1 or a Evo 6, I bought the Evo in the end due to there being too many negative comments about the P1 and also the high percent of engine failures.
I sold the 6 after around 18 months (Awesome Car). I then went on to own a 7 RS Sprint, the best car I have ever owned and I've had a lot of cars. Before I bought the Sprint I was looking at various Marques and I really liked the look of the Wr1 but again decided against it due to the negative comments such as "I'ts just an overpriced poor specced UK car with a paintjob" and also the Topgear review didn't help matters.
I've driven a JDM Sti 8 running 360/360 approx and quite liked it...
I'm now looking for another car and have returned once more to try and convince myself that the WR1 is the right car for me, so come on Peeps give me some good points.. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Some good points:
Traction over 2wd hot hatches
Handles well
Comfier than an evo
The subaru burble
Head turner
Mechanically able to cope with tracks
And some bad points:
Fuel costs high (i get 160 to a tank vs 255 to a tank in my tuned 330bhp Focus ST)
Servicing every 5k miles
Brakes need changing from standard if you drive it hard as theyre not great
Lack of low down torque
Feels underpowered if you move from a diesel or anything torquey
Bonus points:
Every new owner gets a free dogging session with John
You get to read threads which highlight how much better England is over Scotland ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Is the power delivery similar to a Evo, i,e a little bit of lag then Whooooooooosh or is it bollocks like my current Octavia Vrs 2.0 T fsi, fast but doesn't feel it due to the small turbo?

The Evo is computer controlled so it depends on what version of software you have loaded i.e. 8, 9, 10 etc...
The WR1 will vent your spleen adequately in standard form but you can add a supercharger or 2 and maybe some nitrous just for effect if you are wanting more "back door action".
BTW, it is still a skoda

The wr1 has some lag untill 3000rpm then it throws you into your seat,
Abit like a 306D ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

For me a WR1 does everything a performance car should do. I Only have to look at it to bring a smile to my face, it turns heads and the smile grows even wider when driving it.
Had mine 5 months now and still get excited everytime I drive it ![Cool 8)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)

Had mine just over a year and still clean it every 2nd day and luv it all the time. Potentially will be the car i keep for a very long time in my garage once i get a new car as i think its close to perfect. The dashboard looks a bit dated Thank god for my TV in there or it would look older but the rest of it is spot on........ just remember to de-tango and get Ht autos splitter, i was parked beside another one un-tangoed and un splittered and it looked .......... Shit!

Why should you buy one??? Cos its a lot better looking than a Shitsibushi or a Skoda nuff said Seriously though its a fantastic all round package car, looks, performance, reliability etc onlly issue is the rear shocks go but its not just a wr1 thing it affects all new age sti's. Had mine 6 yrs now bought from new & it still makes me smile to look at & puts a grin on my face when i put the foot down & mines still standard. & to answer your lag question yep there is the 1...2...3....whoosh feeling your after if you plant it while cruising ![Cool 8)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif) as its still the 2l engine where the power is more top end rather than the newer 2.5l engine where torque is available from lower down but runs out higher up & due to that it doesn't have as big a turbo kick.

Ive had mine also since April and beginning to think the same - Im not as impressed as I thought I would be, (not necessailry bored mind)
Before this I had a P1 and I think on reflection the P1 was the better car and as mine was remapped and slightly modified it felt quicker.
Certainly the VF28 turbo was more explosive than the VF35 (in my opinion)

you have a vf35 unless its been changed.........
as for the comparison to the classic style cars then you will always get this as the newer shell is far more refined and can feel "flat" as its heavier, generally speaking you need another 30-40bhp over a classic to feel faster......

Not had it on the dyno yet but I guess around 340-350 BHP
Also had some bigger injectors too, although most of the add ons were second hand bought from a member on here
cost me about 1200 quid fitted
